I have recieved an e-mail from a concerned parent, last evening. Having read the e-mail, three times and thinking about the writers comments. To make a mends for the removal of the supplement list I have decided to add some of the videos I have in my library as well.
Vaccine-Nation
Prescription for Disaster (not vaccine specific, however a good video to see into the drug cartels and how they think)
Are Vaccines Safe?
Shoot Em Up: The Truth About Vaccines
Another great site for viewing and purchasing DVD footage on autism and all it means is FAIR.
My suggestion is do research (I have been researching how the body works, how it draws nutrition from our food sources and WHY our kids have more difficulty doing that) into what supplements do and where your particular child is lacking and go from there. I was asked to recind the statement “the only one who knows your child this well is you.” I refuse because I believe that parents who are in tune to their children, do in fact know their child BETTER than ANYONE else ever could. I do suggest employing a medical doctor, keeping in mind that this is to be a collaborative relationship with open communication between both parties. Also, you will need a doctor for monitoring, testing and if need be perscriptions.
I would strongly suggest the use of a medical doctor who knows about the biological effects of autism. All though there are those within the autism community who think that DAN (defeat autism now) doctors are the best of the best; my opinion differs slightly (nothing unusal there actually). All though the criteria for obtaining DAN status has changed for the better (view requirements here) I am of the personal belief that the best doctor to treat autism is a parent (or grandparent) of an autistic child. Also a doctor who has an open mind about the importance of the bio-medical approach is pretty much a nobrainer.
I would like to recommend several websites and books so you can better understand how supplements work and how the bio-medical approach helps a lot of our children. Click on the title of the book to be directed to a website for purchase. Most of these books can be bought at Half.com for about half (hence the name) the retail price. Most of my autism book collection came from this site.
A list of books is:
Children With Starving Brains by Jaquelyn McCandless MD
Changing the Course of Autism by Bryan Jepson MD Dr. Jepson also did a paper called: Understanding Autism which can be downloaded here.
Enzymes for Autism and other Neurological Conditions by Karen DeFelice
Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Phyllis A Balch CNC The companion book, (convenient for carrying along) can be found here.
PDR for Nutitional Supplements
Another good paper which can be downloaded from the web is: A Comprehensive Guide to Managing Autism by Willis S. Langford
For those interested in the homeopathy approach here are several books that may be of interest to you:
A Drug-Free Approach to Asperger Syndrome and Autism by Judyth Reichenberg, Robert Ullman and Ian
Luepker
Autism A Holistic Approach by Bob Woodward and Dr. Marga Hogenboom
Impossible Cure The Promise of Homeopathy by Amy L. Lansky PhD
