Day 4: Official Probing for iPod Capability Begins..

Yesterday the 1st of March I got the following notes from Jen, JR’s SLP at Vista:

Today in speech I worked on:

“half the time spent on requesting, waiting nicely and answering personal information questions on his Dynavox; spent the half working with Rachel (OT) and JR on the iTouch. We wanted to see if JR was able to do some of the fine motor skills necessary to unlock the device (she is referring to the iPod.) move through the pages and open an app- all of which he was able to do with models.

Rachel did the ‘doddle buddy’ program (the parent company can be found HERE. A page on the program can be found HERE.) with him by modeling actions and giving directions. Once he got the hang of it, he did great and seemed to love it. He only needed reminders occasionally to “use 1 finger”, as he wanted to use several fingers and slide them across the screen. We’ll keep working on these skills as we prepare to introduce his schedule on the device.”
